Dolphins draft strategy could take them in a number of directions
This 3rd and last mock draft is the one that I have titled the “Think Outside the Box of Chocolates” scenario, although I could’ve easily named it “ The What in the World Was I thinking” or “The Please Don’t Shoot me, I’m a Father of Two” scenario, because it is controversial by virtue of the first round selection it calls for.
Those of you who know me from before last year’s draft, may remember the outrage I felt when Jeff Ireland traded up only to draft a pass rusher instead of what I felt were dire areas of need, which at the time were cornerbacks and a left offensive tackle. Why would I then be contradicting my own approach and call for a WR so high in the draft? Did the Dolphins not sign enough WRs, one at a pretty handsome price last off season? The answer is simple, and while I already made a case about why a tall receiver is needed on a previous post, I will now explain the second half of my reasoning. This draft is very deep on the offensive line and the drop off in talent is not as significant as it was last year. One may also want to consider, that the only Dolphins WR who are 6’3’ or taller are either on IR (Armon Binns, or on the practice squad (Ryan Spadola). I hope I have made my case and that by now you have all put away your weapons.

… and so my fellow Dolfans it is that we arrive at the end of this exercise of ultimate wishful thinking. I have put in hours of research and studying tape from all suggested players, after analyzing the Dolphins season of 2013. I would be ecstatic if the Phins would indulge me and use one of these mock patterns, but then that would indeed be the ultimate exercise in wishful thinking.
