Are Tannehill’s recent struggles cause for concern?
One thing I’ve learned about Tannehill is that he has the work ethic needed to be great. He also tends to correct his mistakes pretty quickly. I’m hopeful that he’ll fully digest the new offense to the point where he’s comfortable by opening day against the Patriots. Remember, Bill Lazor is installing a system that is similar to what Chip Kelly installed in Philadelphia last season. His BACKUP QB not only picked up the offense, but went on to have a great season in 2013.
I’m not saying that Bill Lazor is Chip Kelly. I’m just saying that we should take some solace in the fact that the new offensive system being implemented has worked and it was digested by a quarterback in Philadelphia that didn’t get the majority of the snaps in the preseason.
I do have a concern about Coach Philbin’s role in this all. If you’re an avid reader of this site, you know that we don’t exactly have a ton of faith in the Dolphins head coach. Mini Rant: We lost to the Bills 3rd string QB…..TWICE!!!!!/end mini rant. My hope is that Coach Philbin has learned from his first 2 years as an NFL head coach and continues to take a personal interest in the development of his players…..although the bed checks might be taking it a bit too far!
Look, I don’t like hearing about interceptions, even in practice. But, I’ll withhold final judgement on Tannehill’s grasp of the offense until I see him play a few preseason games. He did play well in the intra-squad scrimmage on Saturday. I’m curious to know what you think. Are you concerned?
