Cameron Wake signs 4 year extension with Dolphins

Earlier today, the Miami Dolphins locked up their Pro Bowl pass rusher, Cameron Wake for the next 5 years. Wake signed a 4 year contract extension worth a reported $49 million with $20 million guaranteed.

Wake was unhappy with his original deal and was set to become a free agent after the 2012 season. He was so unhappy that he skipped offseason workouts, which he NEVER misses, even the voluntary workouts. It was believed that he could also have held out for a portion of training camp. None of that matters, though, because Wake will now be a Miami Dolphin until 2016.

This is the first big extension for the Dolphins, the other is Jake Long. Locking up Wake is a great move and a team friendly deal. Mario Williams just got $50 million guaranteed from the Bills, so the Wake deal is friendly for the Dolphins!

We’ll have more on this signing later tonight.

Good deal!!! Glad tohave Wake on board. We need to pressure the Qb. But please move him from end to end. He could be much more disruptive. But good move Dolphins front office and good job Wake for not being a Diva and demanding more.

Fins up!!! (Jets and Pats down!)

Could someone explain how Dolphins management pulled this off. I was under the impression there wasn’t enough money to give Wake an extension without first extending Long’s contract. Help me to understand???
