Did Dolphins coaches ask Incognito to toughen up Martin?

I have no idea how the Miami Dolphins football team can avoid the now, worldwide distraction of this Jonathan Martin/Richie Incognito situation. This situation has made it around the world and everyone seems to have an opinion. What’s crazy is that no one knows all of the facts included in this story. Namely, who knew what and when did they know it? We don’t know now and we might not know for some time.

All we can do at this point is use the information we have. Was Richie a racist bully? Were the text and voicemails taken out of context? Were they from a long time ago and has he since changed and befriended Martin? We just don’t know! All we know is that Martin has left the team and that Incognito has been suspended (and probably played his last game in a Dolphins uniform). We know that Coach Philbin was unaware of any bullying or racism (and that he never watched Hard Knocks….or at least he says he didn’t). The Dolphins Coach did his best on Monday to protect himself and the team from this situation….which you would expect.

BUT, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com has an interesting theory. And that’s all it is, a theory at this point. BUT, what if the Dolphins knew that Martin was ‘soft’ and asked Incognito and potentially others, to ‘toughen him up’? If that comes to light, this story is going to get much, much worse for the Dolphins organization. (continued on page 2, including Florio’s theory, CLICK HERE)
