Dolphins can gain ground on 2 rivals this week with a win
Jets (3-3 overall, 1-1 division)
Sunday morning, the Jets were 3-2 and were getting ready to welcome in the winless Steelers. The Steelers defense showed up for the first time all season and handed the Jets a surprising loss. The Jets have played better this season than most thought they would. The fact that they are 3-3 is pretty amazing actually. This week they’ll welcome in the Patriots in a game that might be close (like their week 2 matchup).
Bills (2-4 overall, 0-2 division)
The Bills called me this week, asking if I was interested in working out to be their starting QB. Well, they didn’t, but they could have. Practice squad player turned starting QB, Thad Lewis, rolled his ankle on Sunday against the Bengals, but is expected to play against the Dolphins. He’s not terrible, but there’s a reason he was on the practice squad. As a backup policy, the Bills signed Matt Flynn to a contract this week. They probably hope he doesn’t have to play considering he has only had limited time to learn the offense. The Bills come down to Miami this week and their only hope is that their defensive line can pressure Ryan Tannehill enough to force some mistakes. While I have little faith in the Dolphins offensive line (none actually), I don’t see them rattline Tannehill.
Other games of interest:
Broncos @ Colts – Not even so much for playoff implications down the road, but Peyton Manning going back to Indy? Yes please. This is a win in my book either way. Either the Colts drop to 4-3 or the Broncos fall from the ranks of the unbeatens.
Bengals @ Lions – The Bengals escaped with a win against the Bills last week and now head to Detroit, which is a very touch place to play. I hope Reggie Bush runs for 200 yards against them en route to a Lions win.
Chargers @ Jaguars – A lot of people picked the Chargers in their survivor pools this week because the Jags stink. BUT, this is typically the type of game that the Chargers lay an egg in. If they do, they’ll fall to 3-4 on the season.
49ers @ Titans – The Titans don’t have their starting QB and the 9ers are hitting their stride. Here again, a NFC team can help hand another AFC team a loss, early in this 2013 season.
Browns @ Packers – The Packers helped the rest of the AFC by beating the Ravens last week. They’ll try to beat AFC North opponents for the 2nd straight week when they welcome in the Browns. Go Pack Go?
Texans @ Chiefs – The Chiefs are 6-0, so the Dolphins will have a hard time catching them. But, at this point it looks like at least 1 wild card will come out of the AFC West. The Texans, meanwhile, have lost 4 straight and could help everyone if they pulled off the upset.
Ravens @ Steelers – The Steelers and Ravens hate each other. I expect a 13-10 game here and hope the 1-4 Steelers find a way to pull it out, giving the Ravens their 4th loss on the season.
That’s a lot of games, I know, but the Dolphins have a rooting interest in each of them. Well, us fans have a rooting interest, the Dolphins should only be worried about the Bills. Beat the Bills and we’ll see where everything stands next week! We’ll be in the Club Level on Sunday for the game, if you’re close by tweet us @PhinNation and we’ll try to meet up!
