Dolphins Division: Breaking down the logjam in the AFC East

Buffalo Bills (2-2 overall, 0-1 division)

The Bills did a good job early against the Patriots.  Then, the Patriots woke up and decided they weren’t going to lose to the Bills.  After giving up 52 points to the Patriots, the Bills are on pace to give up the most points in their franchise’s history.  That’s depressing for Bills fans, especially after the team spent a fortune solidifying their defensive front this offseason.  This week, the Bills head to San Francisco to take on a 49ers (3-1) team that will probably steal their lunch, eat it, then throw it up on them.  The Bills have about as much of a chance of winning this game, as I have of dating Mila Kunis.

Miami Dolphins (1-3 overall, 0-1 division)

The Dolphins lost to the Cardinals in overtime. The Dolphins dominated the 1st half against the Cardinals and should’ve held on and won that game.  They didn’t, so now they have to pick themselves up and head to Cincinnati to take on the 2-2 Bengals.  The Bengals have look okay, but they’ve also been inconsistent.  If the Dolphins can get back to running the football effectively and limit the turnovers, they can and will win this game.  Ryan Tannehill took some nice steps last week, but his number one priority for the rest of this season should be to cut down on the costly turnovers.

I said before that the Dolphins could very well be the 2nd best team in this division.  I think by the time this season ends, they will be.  That’s not me being an overly optimistic fan (most would say I’m more of a pessimist); The Dolphins are the second best team because the Bills and Jets are absolutely terrible.  The Dolphins could easily be 3-1.  They’ve played teams with a combined record of 11-5.  The Dolphins are still learning Joe Philbin and Kevin Coyle’s schemes and gaining chemistry with one another each week.  They should only continue to get better.  If the Dolphins can win this week, they’ll likely be tied with the Jets and Bills for 2nd place in the division.  IF, Peyton Manning can remember he’s Peyton Manning and the Broncos can upset the Patriots, all 3 teams could be at 2-3 after 5 weeks.
