Dolphins GM search could take a while

The Miami Dolphins have been without a General Manager for the last few weeks. Since then, they’ve interviewed 7 candidates, but have not narrowed down that list to ‘finalists’. In fact, the Miami Herald suggested yesterday that the Dolphins are actually looking to interview additional candidates.
So the Dolphins are not yet done with their first round of interviews? Apparently so. And you can expect that nothing will change for at least the next week or so. You see, Stephen Ross has been engaged with the process and has sat in on every single interview with GM candidates. BUT, he’s currently in London and will then head to China. So if there are more candidates to be interviewed, those interviews will need to wait for Ross to return to the USA.
It is believed that Ray Farmer (Browns) is one of the strongest candidates in the group. Brian Xanders is also though to have had a great interview. The truth is, no one knows what Mr. Ross is thinking at this point and what Carl Peterson thinks. Remember, Peterson has been advising Ross on this GM search. So your guess is as good as mine.
One thing that is clear is that the Dolphins will likely not have a new GM in place by the time the Super Bowl takes place on February 2nd. They will almost certainly not have a GM in place by the time the Senior Bowl is played this weekend. That’s not quite as bad as it sounds, considering most of the Dolphins candidates are at the Senior Bowl representing their current teams. It is bad, however, because those candidates are looking for players that fit the scheme/needs of their current teams, not the Dolphins. (continued on page 2, CLICK HERE)
