Dolphins have no excuses, just win in Buffalo
Yes, it’s going to be cold, but the Dolphins have proven they could win in adverse conditions. Just 2 weeks ago they beat a better Steelers team in a snowstorm. So the weather should not be a problem. If you can beat Ben Roethlisberger in the snow, you can beat Thad Lewis in the rain. No excuses.
The Dolphins have injuries to some of their key players like Brent Grimes, Paul Soliai, and Nolan Carroll. All have participated in at least portions of practice so far this week. The Bills are banged up too. After all, THEY ARE STARTING THAD LEWIS AT QUARTERBACK!!!! The Dolphins have more talent than the Bills. No excuses.
The Dolphins are coming off of an emotional win against the Patriots. For the last few days they’ve been hearing how great of a win that was. They need to block all of that out. While we’re on that subject, I absolutely love the fact that Michael Lewis was signed off of the 49ers practice squad and made the play of his life to seal Sunday’s win. He even won the AFC Defensive Player of the Week award. Props to him. But can we move on now? It’s a great story and that guy played great on that last drive. But there is no guarantee that he’s even earned a spot on the 53 man roster next season. He’ll get a camp invite, but will be fighting for a roster spot next year. Remember, he’s not even a cornerback, he’s a safety. Again, I think Thomas is great, he’s got a great personality and he made a fantastic couple of plays. But it’s time to move past the Patriots game and onto the Bills game.
Normally, I would say that this is a classic trap game. Not necessarily because the Dolphins don’t think the Bills are a good football team. But usually after an emotional win against a division rival, a team has the tendency to come out flat. It is up to Joe Philbin and the coaching staff to make sure that doesn’t happen this weekend. The Dolphins need to come out, score points, take the lead and never look back. And when they get a lead, don’t let up. Step on the Bill’s throats. No excuses.
As you can see, I’m building this game up in my head as a Dolphins victory. There is no reason that this team should lose to the Bills this weekend. And honestly, if the Dolphins lose to Chad Lewis (I know his name is Thad) twice in one season, they don’t deserve to go to the playoffs. There should be a sense of urgency with this team this week. How much more motivation do you need than the fact that with a win, all you will need is to beat the stinking Jets, at home to advance to the playoffs? No excuses.
