The Miami Dolphins have had their problems with the injury bug this year. Maybe its because of the Lockout, maybe the Dolphins training staff is incompetent….I don’t know. But I’ve never seen this many strains and pulls on one football team. Judging from the various Dolphins injury reports, I’d expect Daniel Thomas, Mike Pouncey, and Richie Incognito to play this week. The one Dolphins player that might be a game time scratch is starting CB, Vontae Davis. Davis did not participate in Dolphins team drills this week.
Daniel Thomas is one of the few Dolphins players that I’ve been impressed with this season…he just needs to stay healthy. He’s running behind a terrible offensive line in Miami, but is showing flashes of potential. We can only hope that the next Dolphins regime knows how to utilize their weapons on offense. Let Daniel Thomas run inside and let Reggie Bush run wide or split him out in space. The Dolphins traded up into the 2nd round to get Thomas last April. Thus far, injuries have slowed the Dolphins rookie, but he does provide hope for the future. My biggest fear is that Thomas fails to shake the injury prone label, much like a former Dolphins running back, Ronnie Brown. I’d expect Thomas to be in the starting lineup for the Dolphins on Sunday against the Chiefs.
Vontae Davis is a concern. His injury is not healing like it should be. If this continues, the Dolphins may be forced to place Vontae on injured reserve, ending his season. This was supposed to be a big year for Vontae. Entering his 3rd season with the Dolphins, he and Sean Smith were expected to become shut down corners for a dominating defense…..clearly that hasn’t happened. We don’t believe Vontae will play on Sunday, but we’re still holding out hope that his injury improves.
Mike Pouncey and Richie Incognito seem set to start along the Dolphins offensive line, which is a good thing. Now, if we can only get Dolphins coach, Tony Sparano, to insert Nate Garner into the RG (moving Carey to RT) or RT (replacing Colombo), we would all be happy.
