The Miami Dolphins open training camp in exactly 3 weeks. Until July 26th/27th, there probably won’t be a whole lot of Dolphins related news. We’ll keep on top of it and will certainly let you know if anything develops. One notable piece of news happened yesterday, as the Dolphins newest WR, Chad Ochocinco finally tied the knot and married Evelyn Lozada. Chad and Evelyn were married and the entire wedding was documented as part of ‘Ev and Ocho’, VH1’s reality show starring the couple. For those of you that are interested, the wedding episode is scheduled to air in September.
The stress of the wedding apparently wasn’t too bad for Chad, since he was tweeting throughout! I like his personality, from his funny tweets to begging Ryan Tannehill to break into the Dolphins practice bubble with him to practice. I just hope that his antics stay tame and don’t become a distraction for this team. Actually, I just hope he can get open and catch passes from whoever the Dolphins quarterback is.
Like him or not, Chad is a unique athlete. If you want a glaring example of the type of guy Chad Johnson is, imagine inviting a total stranger to your wedding, less than 24 hours before you’re set to get married. On Tuesday, one of Chad’s followers tweeted to him and said that she lost her husband 2 weeks ago after being together for 30 years. Chad replied to her and asked her if she had a passport and to pack her bags. Chad’s wife-to-be handled the arrangements and Chad’s follower was now set to be a guest at his wedding. This is just one example of Chad being a good guy and knowing how to interact with his fans. I also recall a story of Chad finding a Twitter follower to share an apartment with during his time in New England. Chad may be seen by some as a diva, but I really don’t think that’s the case. His personality has surpassed his football ability, no doubt. But he’s not a guy that destroys a locker room. On the contrary, by all accounts, Chad has been a great teammate…..even in his 15 catch stint in New England. All we can hope is that his talents on the football field return to what they were when he was a Bengal. We’ll know soon enough, because training camp and the preseason are right around the corner!
