Dolphins’ Philbin is ‘not a huge fan’ of Greg Jennings?

Well Dolphins fans, it seems as though the Dolphins list of potential wide receivers may have just shrunk again. The Dolphins have made no secret of the fact that they want to acquire a wide receiver in free agency.  The Dolphins realize that Ryan Tannehill will only be able to improve if they add weapons to the roster this offseason.  There has been a lot of talk about the Dolphins focusing their attention on Mike Wallace, soon to be free agent from Pittsburgh.  The other names we’ve all been talking about are Dwayne Bowe and Greg Jennings.

Well, that list might be cut down to 1 potential name.  First, we read reports last week that the Chiefs were keen on bringing back Dwayne Bowe.  Andy Reid is the new sheriff in Chief-land and doesn’t want to undertake a long rebuilding project.  The Chiefs are believed to already have a trade in place with the 49ers to acquire Alex Smith, although the deal hasn’t been announced yet.  So that means that the chances of Bowe making it to free agency are pretty low.

Yesterday, we saw reports that the Packers may have changed course and may want to keep Greg Jennings.  In fact, NFL.com had a story about the Packers potentially using their franchise tag on Jennings (at a cost of $10.4 mil for 2013).   Personally, I don’t think the Packers have any intention of tagging Jennings, but you never know.  It just doesn’t make sense from a cap standpoint for them to do it.

Well apparently, even if Jennings enters free agency, the Dolphins might not be interested.  According to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Philbin might not feel the same way:

“The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports Dolphins coach Joe Philbin is not a “huge fan” of free agent Greg Jennings as a player.”

I hope you are right about the poker face thing and also about the Chiefs planning to tag Bowe, because I really don’t think Wallace may be a fit in Miami with the squeaky clean image the team wants to adopt . I wouldn’t be surpirised to see the Miami front office contradict themselves again (as in Brandon Marshall and Chad “85″ Johnson, and get someone that doesn’t fit in to only part ways with him later, which would fuel a lot of our collective iiritation and leaving a certain GM (whose name I am NOT going to mention) with another “DUH” moment.

Correction to the above comment: Meant to say “… The Chiefs planning NOT to tag Bowe…”
Disclaimer: The opinions expressed above are soley my own… obviously, and they should in no way be considered to be influenced by or be a part of of a larger conspiracy or organized movement… Duh.
