Dolphins remaining schedule is the “easiest” in the AFC

The Miami Dolphins enter their bye week with a record if 3-2. Where does that put them in regards to playoff contention? Currently, out of 16 AFC teams, the Dolphins reside in the #10 spot, according to way-too-early tiebreakers. There are still 11 games left on the schedule, including 6 against the rest of the AFC East.

The Dolphins are one of 10 teams in the AFC with a record of 3-2 or better. The Jets surprising start leaves them tied with the Dolphins for second place in the AFC East, a game behind the Patriots. The Bills are only a game behind the, at 2-3……So the AFC East is pretty wide open.

We knew coming into the season that the first 5 games on the Dolphins schedule would be tough. As it turns out, it has been. At this point, 4 out of the Dolphins first five opponents have a winning record. Four out of the Dolphins first five opponents are leading or tied for their division lead. The disappointing, yet talented Falcons are the only exception in both cases.

So what does the rest of the Dolphins schedule look like? Well, after the bye the Dolphins will play 3 games in 12 days. They host the Bills, then travel to New England, then welcome in the Bengals on Halloween for a Thursday night showdown. This stretch could very well determine if the Dolphins are contenders or pretenders in the AFC East and AFC Wildcard picture. If the Dolphins can emerge from this stretch 5-3, they will position themselves nicely for a playoff run. I’d love to see them win all 3, but the two AFC East games are obviously the more important games.  (continued on page 2, CLICK HERE)
