Over the course of the last 12 hours, the Miami Dolphins have begun to agree to terms/sign undrafted free agents from the 2011 class. Most of the names the Dolphins have signed have not been very newsworthy. However, it was recently reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN that the Dolphins will sign Pat Devlin, QB Delaware.
Devlin will likely compete for the 3rd QB position and could be someone that the Dolphins could develop and perhaps even stash on the practice squad. He could also be a guy that is just brought to camp to throw footballs to wide receivers. The Dolphins were looking to bring in a young QB to develop and it appears Devlin could be the guy. He was projected to go anywhere from the 5th round to being undrafted in April’s draft. After going undrafted, he had a number of teams calling him, including the Raiders and Colts. He’s 6’4″, 220 lbs and in 2010 he threw 22 TDs and only 3 INTs. Here’s his highlight video:
I can’t get overly excited about a guy that might not even make the team. From what reports indicate he didn’t look too good at his pro day. However, adding a young QB will always get the attention of Dolfans! Take from it what you will, we just want to pass along all of the news for you, as it happens.
