Gaffney getting closer to playing; Marshall misses Dolphins practice again

The Miami Dolphins returned to the practice field on Monday, following 4 straight off days for the bye week.  The Dolphins players seem energized after the break, ready to get some revenge on the Jets from their overtime loss earlier this season.  Dolphins players are focused on the Jets, but also realize that they have a chance to make a run at the playoffs. Most importantly, they realize that their playoff hopes rest ‘in their own hands’, as Ryan Tannehill put it.

The Dolphins have 3 big health/roster questions entering their divisional matchup with the Jets. First, the Dolphins are hopeful that starting cornerback Richard Marshall will be able to return to the field on Sunday. However, Marshall did not practice on Monday.  Last week, Marshall said that he expects to be healthy enough to play against the Jets. The Dolphins are off today, so maybe the Dolphins wanted to give Marshall a couple of extra days to get healthy.  We’ll keep an eye out to see if Marshall returns to practice on Wednesday, at least on a limited basis.

Marshall was the only Dolphins player not to practice on Monday. Daniel Thomas, who has suffered 2 concussions so far this season, returned to practice. Thomas missed the Dolphins last game against the Rams, but seems to be on track for a return on Sunday.  Thomas hasn’t been great this season, but he’s the Dolphins best pass blocking running back, which makes him valuable to Ryan Tannehill and the passing offense. This comming game against the Jets is crucial for this Dolphin’ season. The Dolphins better came full prepare on the OFFENSIVE side, or they will defenitely lose this game. The Jets lost to the Patriots last week, but there is no question that are playing a lot better, especially on DEFENSE. If the Dolphin are unable to run the ball consistently against the Jets, they will lose this game. I hope the Dolphin OFFENSIVE mix a variety of plays to unbalance the Jets’ defense.
