Is Dolphins’ Brandon Marshall close to finally blowing up?

It’s been a relatively quiet week around the Miami Dolphins….Until today, when Brandon Marshall and many other Dolphins met with the media.  Well, it wasn’t completely quiet, if you consider the 12th time the Dolphins have cut Rey Feinga (poor guy!).  Anyway, after practice today, Brandon Marshall went on a verbal tirade as chronicled in the Palm Beach Post report found here.  Here are a few of our favorite comments from his tirade:

“I’ve been living in a bubble a little bit trying to control myself instead of being me,”

“Hey man, I’m just going to let it out. I don’t care if they have two or three cameras on me, I don’t care if I have penalties, it doesn’t matter,”

“I don’t know if it’s throwing a football 15 yards in the bleachers and getting a 15-yard (penalty), or punting the ball and getting thrown out of the game, something’s going to happen. I’ll probably get kicked out after the second quarter.”

“I might get in a fight with Bart Scott, (Antonio) Cromartie – we used to fight in Denver and San Diego. If that happens, that happens.”

There were more and you can check out the Palm Beach Posts article mentioned above to see all of them.  Marshall claimed he wasn’t kidding…..however, Dolphins coach Tony Sparano had this to say during his time with the media:

“Obviously Brandon’s kidding – 50 percent kidding,” Sparano said. “I know one thing about that guy, he’s not going to do anything to hurt this football team. He wants to be more passionate with the ball in his hands.”

To a degree, I agree with the Dolphins so-called #1 receiver….He has been playing without the normal emotion we’ve seen from him in the past.  I attributed this to his treatments for his Borderline Personality Disorder.  I thought maybe the treatments were making him more balanced.  On the field, the balanced Brandon Marshall, had a great first game for the Dolphins this season (7 catches for 139 yards).  However, he has only put up pedestrian numbers for the Dolphins since.  In fact, he’s been criticizes for the last 2-3 weeks for dropping many catchable passes.

The real question is, is Brandon Marshall getting close to his boiling point….is he going to blow up soon?  One of our Twitter followers, @Rizzmiggizz (a funny guy to follow!), suggested that this would be the week that Marshall finally throws a huge tantrum.  He wrote that on Twitter about 3 hours BEFORE Marshall made the comments mentioned above.

We hope Brandon keeps himself under control, otherwise he could end up hurting the Dolphins….and the Dolphins don’t need their own players hurting them..other teams do enough damage.  We do hope he plays with a little more passion for the rest of the season, otherwise he might not be around much longer.  After all, the Dolphins gave up 2 second round picks for him, so you’d hope they could get more than just 2 seasons out of him!  Armando Salguero suggests that the Dolphins should just cut bait with Marshall and trade him before Tuesday’s trade deadline.  He suggests the Dolphins should take something around a 2nd round pick for Marshall.  Personally, I don’t think trading him now is a good idea, you’re not getting good value.  Let him play out the year and make your decision then.
