Joe Philbin Will Be Dolphins Coach

Finally Dolphins fans! Finally, the Miami Dolphins coaching search is over. Moments ago Adam Schefter reported that the Miami Dolphins will name, now former Packers offensive coordinator, Joe Philbin their new head coach. Philbin met with Dolphins Owner Stephen Ross and General Manager Jeff Ireland on Wednesday for his second interview. Rumors suggested that Stephen Ross wanted Philbin, but Jeff Ireland wanted McCoy. However, those are just rumors…if true, Ross won.

The Dolphins are planning a press conference at some point and we will certainly keep you posted. However, rest assured that the search is now over, Joe Philbin will lead the Dolphins in 2012 and beyond.

Thankfully this Dolphins coaching search has come to an end. What started 3 weeks before the season ended with the early firing of Tony Sparano, turned into a bit of a circus at times. The Dolphins reportedly reached out to Jon Gruden and Bill Cowher, but they weren’t ready to return to the sidelines. THEN, the Dolphins had their run at Jeff Fisher, who ultimately decided the Rams were the best fit for him. The Dolphins ultimately decided on Philbin, who has helped develop Aaron Rodgers into the player he is today.

Congratulations to coach Philbin. I can’t imagine the life changing two weeks he’s had after losing his son. I wish him the best of luck! On another note, someone cue the Matt Flynn to Miami rumors….Personally, not sure how I feel about that just yet…but the rumors will start almost immediately.

It’s unknown at this time who will be on Philbin’s coaching staff. He could bring Packers QB Coach, Tom Clements, in as his offensive coordinator. We believe Todd Bowles will be asked to return to the Dolphins next year as their defensive coordinator….we’ve also heard Jack Del Rio’s name mentioned for that position if Bowles declines. We’re on top of the story and will keep you posted on the latest news…..

Good Job Mr. Ross!! Philbin was your favorite and you chose him over what Ireland wanted, that’s making an impact on your team and picking the kind of coach YOU want. NOW, go offer Flynn 6yrs – $50mill to be our starting QB. He knows Philbins offense inside and out and Flynn should help our Offensive players learn the playbook fairly quickly, now that we will have our OTA’s this spring. Kudos Ross, now let’s hope he can get a good staff together and let’s get Miami back to where it should be.

Win, Loose, or Tie… Dolphins till I die!!

I am psyched… Not all great coordinators can make the transition to head coaches, take Cam Cameron, please…however, if he turns out to be a strict disciplinarian with no tolerance for team superstars to act like prima donnas, we should be fine.
