Latest Dolphins Buzz as free agency opens

Dolphins fans, stay away from the internet until 4pm today.  Otherwise, you’re going to drive yourself crazy.  Trust me, I think I’m almost there.  Rumors, speculation, false reports, and smokescreens are rampant right now.  However, once the 4pm start of free agency arrives, we can FINALLY expect to start hearing some ‘real’ news.  This post will act as the running newsfeed for the latest Dolphins news today.  Be sure to check back on this post often!

I’ve been on Twitter all day, monitoring all of the craziness, so here is what we know as of this moment:

Mike Wallace – The Palm Beach Post said yesterday that a source told him Wallace to the Dolphins was a ‘done deal’.  Then Percy Harvin was traded by the Vikings and suddenly everyone freaked out and feared that they would swoop in and sign him….Then there’s the Patriots, which I’ve feared all along. They are working to resign Wes Welker, but haven’t offered him a contract yet. They could be laying in the weeds, waiting to pounce on Wallace.  He’d fit in perfectly there and would give Brady the type of threat that he had when Randy Moss was in his prime.  Hopefully all of this is just us getting worried about nothing and the Dolphins announce the signing at 430pm.  Adam Schefter still contends that Wallace will end up in Miami.  We’ll see….

[UPDATE: 2:10pm] @RapSheet (Ian Rappaport) on NFL Network said he expects Mike Wallace to be one of the first 2 free agents signed at 4pm (with the Dolphins).

[UPDATE: 4:02PM] Adam Schefter just tweeted that the Dolphins are working on a 5 year deal with Mike Wallace and a source said it is ‘very, very, likely’ to get done soon.  (cont’d on page 2, click here)

Hopefully idiot Ireland don’t screw this up with Wallace!!! His LAST year better make it count Jeffy

Guess what Killer? He did, as in Ireland srews it up again… we have no tight end, unless of course you consider his great pick from last year (Eggnog or Eggnew, not sure) a starter, because Fassano is gone and Cook just signed, so instead of upgrading or getting deeper at that position, we seem to have eliminated it from our play book for the upcoming season. Now, as far as I know, Keller is still out there, so there’s hope yet and maybe boy wonder has something up his sleeve, because there’s no quality TE’s in this year’s draft. Quality at that position drops off after the first Round. We also have no corner, but of course Sean Smith remains unsigned so same old same old on that front. The good news there is that the draft offers several options at that position, the bad news is, Ireland may go out and draft yet more LB’s. Keep the team and trade the manager.

Now you take the manager… please. (immitating the great late Benny Youngman… if you have to ask who? You’re too young to remember)
