Latest news on Jairus Byrd, Branden Albert and the Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are not waiting until Free Agency official opens at 4pm Tuesday afternoon. The Dolphins are using the pre-free agency negotiating window to reach out to representatives of their top targets. Thus far, it seems like the Dolphins are focusing on two starting positions in particular; Left Tackle and Safety.
The first reports that came out on Saturday linked the Dolphins heavily with Branden Albert, the soon-to-be free agent left tackle from the Chiefs. It was believed that Eugene Monroe would be the Dolphins top choice at left tackle, but his camp is continuing to talk with the Ravens about returning. Not wanting to miss out on a top left tackle, the Dolphins moved quickly and seem pretty far down the road with Albert:
“Per a league source, all signs currently point to Albert signing with the Dolphins not long after the market officially opens on Tuesday.”
We knew the Dolphins would look to find a starting left tackle in free agency, though. We didn’t know how aggressive they’d be in their search to find an upgrade over Chris Clemons at safety. Chris Clemons is about to become a free agent. While not a big playmaker, he did an average job in 2013. (cont’d on page 2, CLICK HERE)
