Latest News on Richie Incognito/Jonathan Martin situation
If this is true (and Omar Kelly has gotten a story or 2 wrong in his day), it would add to embarrassment the Dolphins are feeling. If it’s true, we all will want to know who it was that gave the order and why they did nothing when it went too far. Was it Joe Philbin? Was it O-line coach Jim Turner? Was it Jeff Ireland? At this point, we don’t know. BUT, I hold Philbin and Ireland culpable even if it was someone under them, like Jim Turner. Philbin and Ireland are supposed to have the pulse of this team. If their players are following their orders or one of their coaches orders, they should know if those orders are being followed correctly.
Quite frankly, I’m finding it harder and harder to see a way that Joe Philbin makes it out of this ordeal with his job. And, in my humble opinion, if you are going to fire Philbin, Ireland should go too. After this mess and 4 losing seasons, the Dolphins might need a fresh start. New GM….New Head Coach….New culture. This season is far from over, but things could spiral further out of control if the Dolphins lose on Monday night to the winless Bucs. I’m hoping and praying that doesn’t happen.
Also making news on Tuesday was the brief statement that Richie Incognito made to a reporter. Here’s the story and here is what Richie said:
“You know what, I’m just trying to weather the storm right now,” Incognito said. “This will pass.”
Incognito would not comment on the voicemails he allegedly left for Martin….the ones using a racial slur. I think Richie is going to keep a low profile until he needs to come out and say something.
Stay tuned, I’m sure this story will continue to break as the week goes on. We’re getting dribs and drabs of information and we’ll get it to you as soon as we can. Later today we’ll actually have some football related news for you….what a relief, right?
