Martin and Incognito inching towards a return?
Richie, at 30, got voted into that council this year coming off of his first Pro Bowl season and projects to be a top player for a few more seasons.
The Dolphins value his production, which means he could be in the starting lineup for the last four games if the team remains firmly in the playoff picture.
Meanwhile, with Will Yeatman out for the year with a torn ACL, the team might want to think about creating a job environment that Jonathan Martin would want to come back to.
Jonathan’s case against the team might be irreperably damaged by the text he sent Richie of a creepy looking dog with the message “I will kill your whole f-ing family”.
It was confirmed and tweeted by his lawyer, who asked us to be the judge.
My ruling:
If Jonathan felt bullied by Richie, then it comes off as a veiled threat.
If Jonathan was joking with Richie, as both sides attest, then it gives credibility to Richie’s claim of a friendship that included a mutual twisted sense of humor.
Bottom line:
Jonathan’s career is worth more than this case.
Steve Ross will meet with him soon and might have a realistic chance to convince him to drop the lawyers and get back to work. The team could use him to backup both tackle positions this year and find a taker for him in the off-season.
