If there’s one thing the Miami Dolphins have done well over the last few years, it’s kicking field goals. This ‘strength’ of the Dolphins could take a hit in the very near future as there is speculation that former Pro Bowler Dan Carpenter could be injured. Today, the Dolphins brought in 3 kickers for workouts Shayne Graham, Rhys Lloyed, and Jeff Reed, according to Jason LaCanfora. The Dolphins haven’t listed Carpenter on the injury report for Sunday’s game against the Bills. In fact, he practiced with the Dolphins Special Teams unit on Friday. But why else would they bring in 3 kickers?
If Carpenter is injured, the Dolphins will need to sign one of these kickers today, since they play in less than 2 days. That’s the odd thing about this, if Carpenter was injured last week, wouldn’t they have tried out kickers earlier in the week? Perhaps he was injured at Dolphins practice this week. Or, maybe he was out late (like 9pm) with Brandon Fields and threw down a few (2) of Smirnoff Ices and showed up at Dolphins practice hungover? We’ll keep you posted on Carpenter’s status and let you know as soon as we hear something from the Dolphins.
(Update 2:00 pm) The Dolphins have officially listed Dan Carpenter as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bills. Carpenter is nursing an apparent groin injury.
