Pitiful Picks: Can the Dolphins pull off the huge upset in Green Bay?
The Miami Dolphins season seems like it’s over, but many people fail to realize the Dolphins are currently holding the 7th spot in the AFC playoff picture. In fact, if they can pull off a miracle win in Green Bay AND the Saints beat the Bengals on Sunday, the Dolphins would move into the #6 spot. Both of those outcomes happening in tandem are unlikely. However, despite all of the Dolphins injuries to key players (i.e their starting QB, C, G, etc.), they have managed to get to 5-4. A win Sunday would be surprising and would set the Dolphins up at 6-4 heading into their bye week before heading to Indianapolis to take on the Colts.
Our Pitiful Picks have been better of late. We posted our picks on Twitter the last 2 weeks and went 3-2 and 4-0 over that span. That brings our season total up to 22-15. Not great, but not terrible either. This week has a lot of big spreads. Let’s see how we can do:
Patriots -6.5 over Titans
The Titans team that beat the Eagles and Jaguars in consecutive weeks, appears to be a distant memory. Meanwhile, the Patriots are rolling. After starting 1-2, they have won 6 straight. Like all Dolphins fans, I’d love to see them lose this one, but I think their streak continues and this one could get ugly. Patriots 27 Titans 16
Jets -7.5 over Bills
The Bills are a dumpster fire and honestly, I have no idea who’s playing quarterback this week. It won’t matter. The Jets defense is good and should force multiple turnovers against the Bills, setting up good field position for their injury-depleted offense. I liked this spread better when it was only 7 points, but it is what it is now. Jets 20 Bills 10
Giants +3.5 over 49ers
I’ve been burned by the Giants multiple times this year, but I’m a Dolphins fan, so clearly I’m a glutton for punishment. The Giants are coming off of their bye week and just have too much talent on offense to not put up points against a bad 49ers team. Hoping Barkley and Beckham can put up multiple TDs each. Giants 27 Forty-Niners 20
Packers -10 over Dolphins
Again, I’d love to be wrong here. But I think there are just too many things working against the Dolphins this week, especially the QB matchup. Aaron Rodgers, at home, against The Brock. It could get ugly folks. Add to that the Dolphins issues on defense (last week notwithstanding) and the fact the Dolphins are heading to play a cold weather game for the first time this year? Yeah, it probably will be ugly. Packers 33 Dolphins 17
