Report: Dolphins pursuing trade for Dwayne Bowe?

The Miami Dolphins are actively pursuing a trade for Chiefs side receiver Dwayne Bowe, according to reports. We will caution you that the reports spoken about in Sports Illustrated link are unconfirmed. Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports is referenced in the story and said tonight he’s personally not reporting trade talks are ongoing. BUT, Cole said it would make a lot of sense since Bowe wants out of Kansas City badly. Other reports are saying that trade talks are happening, but the Dolphins aren’t going to confirm if something is in the works, right?

The Dolphins receiving corps has been thin since the Dolphins traded away Brandon Marshall for two 3rd round picks back in March. The Dolphins have relied mainly on Davone Bess and Brian Hartline this season, but neither appears to be a true #1 receiver.  Hartline has had 1 good game and 1 career day. However, he has been mostly shut down the last 2 games. I like Brian, but I just don’t think he’s a number one receiver. He’s a good #2 or #3.  I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t know if he is physically dominant enough to be considered a #1 receiver.

The Dolphins find themselves tied for first place (and last place) in the AFC East with the other 3 teams at 3-3. Maybe the Dolphins want to make a run at this thing….Maybe they realize it would be a good idea to get Ryan Tannehill a legit #1 receiver.  Acquiring someone like Bowe would allow the Dolphins to use 3 wide receiver sets that feature Bowe and Hartline on the outside and Davone Bess lined up in the slot, where he’s at his best.  (cont’d on page 2, click below)

I say the Fins should go for it. Bowe is a beast of a receiver in B.Marshall’s mold but he has better hands and a Tad bit faster. And not to mention he’s originally from south Fla, he went to Norland High and won a championship his senior year before heading to LSU. Bring him home and give him a contract, he’s not worth a 1st round pick but one one of our 2nd round picks should be enough.

C’mon Ireland!!!! I know its only speculation but make this happen.

I don’t think it makes sense… It’s a knee jerk reaction that would only benefit the Chiefs. Bowe will be a FA after the season and Miami can get him without giving up draft picks. The only way I see this happening is for a 4th round pick or less, otherwise the Dolphins will wait it out.

If we are going to make a trade why not go for broke and get a premeir receiver? A true #1 guy. Bring in some of the NFL’s elite. Let’s look at everyone. We now have a QB that’s legit across the board and a future with him so build around. Coach Philbin has changed the attitude of the team so by all accounts they should be dealing with the draft picks now to fill the gaps.

I agree with Pat, but I’m still wondering why the dolphins don’t use L miller more.
