Report: Dolphins pursuing trade for Dwayne Bowe?

The Dolphins have plenty of ammunition to acquire Bowe, who’s scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the year. The Dolphims have a first round pick, two 2’s, and two 3’s. The compensation (unless it’s a 1st rounder) shouldn’t be the problem. The problem might be the fact that the Dolphins will need to sign Bowe to a contract extension for big bucks. Stephen Ross said the Dolphins would do everything in their power to get a number 1 receiver…his checkbook might end up being that power.

The other teams that are rumored to be involved in the talks are the Rams, Jets, and Lions.  Making a trade and signing Bowe to a contract extension would guarantee he’s in Miami for a while. If the Dolphins decide to wait until he hits free agency this offseason, he might not be there because another team could trade for him before the week 8 deadline.  Bowe said in the offseason that he’d love to come to Miami.  However, a lot of players say that, especially when they are playing for a team like the Chiefs.

In 2012, Bowe has 34 catches for 432 yards and 3 TDs, while playing on a terrible Chiefs team. During this bye week, the Dolphins could make themselves better by acquiring a quality player like Bowe. Will it be enough to make a playoff push? It might, but first these rumors and reports need to turn into reality.
