Report: Dolphins pursuing trade for Dwayne Bowe?

The Dolphins have plenty of ammunition to acquire Bowe, who’s scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the year. The Dolphims have a first round pick, two 2′s, and two 3′s. The compensation (unless it’s a 1st rounder) shouldn’t be the problem. The problem might be the fact that the Dolphins will need to sign Bowe to a contract extension for big bucks. Stephen Ross said the Dolphins would do everything in their power to get a number 1 receiver…his checkbook might end up being that power.

The other teams that are rumored to be involved in the talks are the Rams, Jets, and Lions.  Making a trade and signing Bowe to a contract extension would guarantee he’s in Miami for a while. If the Dolphins decide to wait until he hits free agency this offseason, he might not be there because another team could trade for him before the week 8 deadline.  Bowe said in the offseason that he’d love to come to Miami.  However, a lot of players say that, especially when they are playing for a team like the Chiefs.

In 2012, Bowe has 34 catches for 432 yards and 3 TDs, while playing on a terrible Chiefs team. During this bye week, the Dolphins could make themselves better by acquiring a quality player like Bowe. Will it be enough to make a playoff push? It might, but first these rumors and reports need to turn into reality.

I say the Fins should go for it. Bowe is a beast of a receiver in B.Marshall’s mold but he has better hands and a Tad bit faster. And not to mention he’s originally from south Fla, he went to Norland High and won a championship his senior year before heading to LSU. Bring him home and give him a contract, he’s not worth a 1st round pick but one one of our 2nd round picks should be enough.

C’mon Ireland!!!! I know its only speculation but make this happen.

I don’t think it makes sense… It’s a knee jerk reaction that would only benefit the Chiefs. Bowe will be a FA after the season and Miami can get him without giving up draft picks. The only way I see this happening is for a 4th round pick or less, otherwise the Dolphins will wait it out.

If we are going to make a trade why not go for broke and get a premeir receiver? A true #1 guy. Bring in some of the NFL’s elite. Let’s look at everyone. We now have a QB that’s legit across the board and a future with him so build around. Coach Philbin has changed the attitude of the team so by all accounts they should be dealing with the draft picks now to fill the gaps.

I agree with Pat, but I’m still wondering why the dolphins don’t use L miller more.
