Report: Reggie Bush ‘highly unlikely’ to resign with Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are in full offseason mode, trying to determine which of their own free agents they want to resign to future contracts.  Tough decisions are being discussed regarding Jake Long, Reggie Bush, Sean Smith, Randy Starks, Brian Hartline, and Anthony Fasano.  With roughly $46 million in cap room, the amount the Dolphins will have to spend on other players will largely depend on which (and how many) of these free agents they resign.

Right now, we know the Dolphins are involved in complex negotiations with Jake Long.  But, with word coming out that Jake wants $10 mil per season, I think the chances of bit #77 coming back are growing slimmer by the day.  So the Dolphins would likely convert Jonathan Martin to LT to replace Long and address RT in free agency or the draft (at a much lower price than $10 mil per season).

Well, over the weekend, we received some news from Jason LaCanfora of CBSSports.com about the impending free agency of Reggie Bush.  LaCanfora said:

“Reggie Bush’s ability to make explosive plays and contribute on special teams will lead to a nice market forming for him, I’m sure, and it’s highly unlikely he stays with Miami, sources said”

I’d hate to see Bush go, because when he does turn it on, it’s on. The problem with him is up front blocking from a sub-par run blocking by the o-line’s left side and inconsistent right side and his own decision to try to make like OJ Simpson (yes, the same guy from the trials used to be poetry in motion wearing #32 for the Bills before his civilian life of “cloak and dagger”), and be dancing and weaving his away into open field… but that’s never been his forte. He runs best, when he hits the pedal decisevly and without hessitation.
Lamarr Miller, whom I have always liked since college, has his issues with blocking, but that can be worked around. Thomas, can be the new Lusaka Polite (as long as he doesn’t fumball) and get that extra yard on 3rd and 1. Anyone remember Laynes? Lots of expectations for him to be involved with screen plays as the target, but no cigar… at least someone seems to have given up on him prematuraly in my opinion. We also have Thighpen and at the risk of facing redicule in the future (slim to no chance in my humble) I am expressing, here and now, boldly if I may be, that he will be our next sensation. This kid is a play maker. Showed he could run, be a slot receiver and we all know what he does on special teams, which, if I get my way, he will be doing less of. Feel free to quote me. Should Philbin/Sherman use thigpen the way he was intended to be by his manufacturer, everyone will get thighpen fever next year… mark my words, and I rarely say this or go out on a limb like that.
Yes, boldness from your most humble reader… left over effect from the recent full moon perhaps? I think not, I stand by everything and will hold myself accountable, but Sherman has got to use him or we’ll never know… time to get creative here, so we can all start calling you general (as in general Sherman). My name is Miami Jules, and I approve this opinion.
