Time to Vote…..for Dolphins mid-season grades

The Miami Dolphins are officially at the midway point in the 2012 season.  The Miami Dolphins currently sit at 4-4 an alone in second place in the AFC East, as well as one game back of the two AFC wild card spots.  The Miami Dolphins season has been a bit of a roller coaster as they started 1-3, then improved to 4-3 after a 3 game winning streak, only to fall back to .500 on Sunday, losing to the Colts.  So what do we know about the Dolphins that we didn’t at the beginning of the season?

Well, I think we could all agree that Ryan Tannehill has all the tools to be the franchise QB the Dolphins have been looking for. Second, I think Joe Philbin is turning out to be a pretty good head coach, as the Dolphins players seem to be buying into his philosophies.  Third, I think the Dolphins realize they are a work in progress and that additional retooling will be necessary if the team wants to be a consistent contender in the AFC.

I think the overall feeling around Dolphins fans is that the team is heading in the right direction.  I mean, the team was 1-7 last year at this point, now they are 4-4.  I realize there is a large contingent of Dolphins fans that are still calling for a new general manager, but we will need to see how the rest of the season plays out before Mr. Ross will need to make that decision.

So, since today is Election Day, we thought we’d allow you to do some voting right here at PhinNation.com.  We want to know what you think about the current state of the Dolphins, their coaches, and even who you are voting for today in the ‘big’ election.  Don’t worry, these polls are completely anonymous, we can’t tell who’s voting for what person or grade.  We will be collecting your votes until tonight at 10pm, then we will count them up and publish the results tomorrow morning.  We will give you the reader’s average grade and our thoughts on what the Dolphins grade should be.  This should be fun, we’re eager to know what Dolphins fans think about the different units/players/coaches on the team!   (click on page 2 below to vote!)

The only thing I have seen as negatives, on special teams, were the 3 missed field goals. Those were 3 big misses. I still think it deserves an A rating.

I was very disappointing that Tannehill could not handle the presure at the last drive to a least to try to tied the game against the Colts. The Dolphin secondary is a serious problem and there is not excuse to fixed now tht the team still have a chance. To allow a rookie like Hilton to score like that was a disgrace. How many times this players need to realize to take advantage of opportunities? They should hadbetter for this game. Luck had plenty time to deliver especially on third down, and there was not a solid response from the defense. Why four downs passing at the last drive at the yard 50, with two time out Tannehill coudl not connected for a lousy fisrt down? This is the second game that the Dolphins lose the game because same problem, inability to grap 10 lousy yards? Coach Phibin, get on and fixed. Why Tannehill did not work the sideline on the last drive? Man, it is ridiculus.

On top of that, the calling from the referees was terrible at the last driveThere was not foul that merited a flag, and cost the Dolphin 15 yards. Tou for givgame to the Colts. He had 2 full minutes, two time outs, and 4 downs to give the kicker 20 more yards? Man, it is ridiculus.

The Dolphins run defense is the best part of their team play.Tannehill has improved since the start of the season. The other parts of their team play has been inconsistent including the running game. They have the toughest part of their schedule left to play.

It’s a bad time for Dan Carpenter to be missing any field goals. This team doesn’t run the ball with any confidence and doesn’t protect the QB. After seeing Ricky Williams, Ronnie Brown, & Reggie Bush all fail to deliver it’s exhausting! I’m ready for the next chapter in Fins RB history.

Why is it that Miami has players who can not make a key play or someone who can say get on my back I will make it happen. it has been over 16 years since we had someone like that. We almost had someone like that in a Heartless Pot head. he had one good year. Pennington could have but he was a china doll. Why is it that Dan Carpenter can not make one key field goal. If he makes two key field goals this year is completely differtent.
