Vince Wilfork to the Dolphins?
I could see a base 5-2 defense, 1950s style, with Vernon and Wake starting on the edges.
Wheeler, Ellerbe and Misi would compete for the two inside linebacker positions, not that I would not mind an upgrade there too.
When the team wants to play a traditional 3-4 defensive, they just move their ends off the line.
You do not take your best players off the field. Period.
Dion Jordan is 6’6″, 260 pounds and blessed with 4.5 speed, so I would give him a shot to win a full time job at inside linebacker or strong safety. He is being wasted in a rotation.
Should he shine at safety, I would move him up a few yards and place eight men in the box regularly.
On running plays, he is the third linebacker, while on passing plays he backpedals and reads the routes, unless he is blitzing, of course.
Brent Grimes and Cortland Finnegan are a formidable pair at corner, but Dimitri Patterson, who had four interceptions and a sack in six games last year is still on my mind.
Many of the Dolphins best defensive players already over 30, so you sign the big fella and aim to be inVINCEible in 2014.
I cannot wait for the Patriots to release him.
