Which Dolphins rookies will stand out in Preseason Game #1?
#5 Damien Williams, RB, Oklahoma
This undrafted player also got kicked off his college team, but has shown maturity and professionalism thus far. He seems to be a lock on the 53 man roster and a major reason for optimism as he is perfectly suited as a change of pace back and pass catcher out of the backfield.
#47 Chris McCain, OLB, California
This undrafted free agent also had the physical ability to be an early draft pick. He was kicked off of the California program this year, but looks a lot like Dion Jordan on the field. The team seems to have found a natural fill in for Jordan as a blitzing and coverage linebacker.
#77 Billy Turner, G, North Dakota State
The third round pick is in the running for the starting right guard position. He is still raw, but the team and fans alike have every reason to be hopeful that he can be a part of an excellent line in the near future. Could it be this year?
#88 Arthur Lynch, TE, Georgia
The fifth round pick is the best blocking tight end on the roster. He was projected as a seventh rounder, which indicates that the Dolphins want a blocking tight end in 2014.
#35 Walt Aikens, CB, Liberty
The fourth round draft pick has been playing safety and is showing position flexibility. I think he will do well on special teams and earn a roster spot. Even though he finished his college career at Liberty, he started at Illinois, so he is not really a small school prospect. He is pretty close to a lock on this roster.
The rest of these guys are likely battling on the practice squad, but I will keep this list nearby in case one of them catches my eye today:
#3 Orleans Darkwa, RB, Tulane
#6 Brock Jensen, QB, North Dakota State
#37 Kevin Fogg, DB, Liberty
#38 Steven Clarke, DB, Vanderbilt
>#41 Demetrius Wright, S, Southern California
#45 Andrew Wilson, LB, Missouri
#46 Tevin Mims, DE, South Florida
#49 Micajah Reynolds, DT, Michigan State
#61 Tyler Larsen, C, Utah State
#62 Evan Finkenberg, OL, Arizona State
#68 Garrison Smith, DT, Georgia
#73 Kamal Johnson DT, Temple
#78 Terrence Fede, DE, Marist – seventh round pick
#83 Matt Hazel, WR, Coastal Carolina – sixth round pick
