Who will stay and who will go for the Dolphins?

The Miami Dolphins are in the process of evaluating the talent they have on their current roster.  They are trying to map out a plan for this critical offseason that presents them with $40-$50 mil in cap room and 5 draft picks in the first 3 rounds of the draft.  The Dolphins have a lot of big decisions to make this offseason.  The big decisions that will come first will be to determine which of the Dolphins own free agents should be brought back for the 2013 season and beyond.

Let’s start by looking at each of the key Dolphins players that will be free agents in early March.  The salaries listed below are courtesy of SportsCity.com and can be found here.

Reggie Bush – $4.5 mil in 2012

Whey he’ll be back:  The Dolphins have 2 relatively unknown commodities behind him in Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller.  Personally, I’d like to see a lot more of Lamar Miller and less of Daniel Thomas.

Why he won’t be back: Reggie will probably be looking for a raise, but is it really deserved?  The Dolphins have invested 2 draft picks in running backs in the last 2 drafts, probably to set up for Bush leaving the team.

What will happen:  I think the Dolphins will try to sign Reggie to a team friendly deal, worth roughly the same as he made in 2012, but I’m not sure he’ll take it.  If I had to guess, I’d say Reggie will be elsewhere in 2013.  (cont’d on page 2, click below)

Let’s hope the pins can find a good rb, wrs, and pass rushes opposite Wake and one up the middle is a must. And trade Daniel Thomas. He sucks!

Let’s hope the pins bad management and horrible scouts can find them some good players.

We really need to keep the one play maker we have along with Anthony fasano, Brian hartline and,Shawn Smith. The other holes can be filled in F/A as well as our top % picks! We need to stop giving away all of our play makers and tell Boss Ross to kick in. Wes Welker has murdered us ever since he was traded away along with others. Hold on to our key players and build around them!!!! Please!!!!

I enjoyedre ading this article and I think it was an easy and fun read… analytical, simple and not overwhelming.
I’m not going to elaborate on the chances of any of this players returning or not, this post does that already and it does it well. I’m just going to add my personal view on who I’d like back, and who i’d like gone.
Bush: Should he continue his dance in the back field, then he should start packing if he hits the whole at full speed then he can be amazing.
Starks: Should we draft right, then we’ll need someone in that position and it might as well be him.

Fassano: Yes, he’s got chemestry with RT but if Clay shows progress, then I basicaly don’t care either way.

Heartline: I’d like to see him back.

Long: Thanks for the memories buddy, glad you’re set for life if you have a good accountant, but we’ll see you later.

Matt Moore: I have always liked Moore, and would’ve liked to have seen him more often while we were making a run for the play offs,… please stay.

Smith: If we make the right moves during the upcoming draft, then it’s bye bye buddy, if not, then I guess we may want to keep him..
