Pitiful Picks: The Happy Thanksgiving edition
While the Miami Dolphins continue to prepare for their HUGE matchup with the Jets on Sunday, the rest of us get to sit at home, watch some football, eat some turkey and stuffing, drink some beverages, and spend time with family and friends. While watching some football, we need to have some rooting interests, right?
So we’re bringing you a special edition of Pitiful Picks for the Thanksgiving Day games. We’re 24-26 on the season after losing 3 of 5 last weekend. We would like to get over .500 at some point this season! So here we go!
Lions -7 over Packers
It looks like Matt Flynn will get the start for the Packers. He’s not a savior in place of Aaron Rodgers, but he does know the offense and is familiar with the players on the team. BUT, the Packers are hitting the road on a short week, after playing a 5 quarter game last week against the Vikings. I think they’ll be spent by the time the second half comes around and that’s when Reggie Bush will take over. I expect big things out of Megatron in this one. This is the early game on Fox and by the time you sit down to eat, this one could already be out of hand. Prediction: Lions 34 Packers 20
Raiders +9 over Cowboys
Let me start by saying that I think the Cowboys will win this game. But 9 points seems like too much to me. The Raiders don’t really do any one thing really well, but the Cowboys are 6-5 for a reason…they are inconsistent. The Cowboys defense has been shaky at times and has shown some flaws. I think the Raiders keep this one close. Prediction: Cowboys 27 Raiders 23
Steelers +3 over Ravens
A matchup of two 5-6 teams, should be fun, right? Actually, it’s always fun when these 2 teams get together because they don’t like each other….like, at all. The Steelers are plying like a new team of late and are certainly the hotter of the 2 teams. I’m supposed to say something here about how this game features 2 teams that the Dolphins are tied with for the 6th playoff spot in the AFC. But I won’t….because I vowed not to talk playoffs unless the Dolphins beat the Jets on Sunday. Games between these 2 AFC North rivals are usually close, so I’ll take the hotter team, who’s getting points. Prediction: Steelers 19 Ravens 16
From PhinNation’s family to yours, please have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving! Enjoy the games!
