Mock Draft: After signing Moreno, how will the Dolphins attack the draft?
With the 17th pick in the 3rd round (81st overall) the Miami Dolphins select:
Seantrel Hendersen, Offensive Tackle, Miami
Pencil him in at right tackle. An underperformer in college, the 6’8″, 350 pounder could become a dominant force in the pros. I previously reached for him in the second round, but now I am willing to take my chances. Miami has Dallas Thomas and Eric Winston is still available in free agency.
With the 16th pick in the 4th round, the Miami Dolphins select:
Colt Lyerla, Tight End, Oregon
Character concerns may have him off of the Miami Dolphins draftboard altogether, but at 6’4″, with good hands and 4.47 speed, I am taking my chances in the fourth round, possibly third.
With the 15th pick in the 5th round, the Miami Dolphins select:
Tom Savage, Quarterback, Pittsburgh
The 6’4″, 228 pound Savage will need time to develop. He already has touch on the 60 yard pass, which gives him a chance to flourish on the team with the best deep threat in football.
With the 14th pick in the 6th round, the Miami Dolphins select:
Charles Leno, Jr., Offensive Tackle, Boise State
A left tackle in college, he projects as a back up for the 2014 Dolphins. He has experience in the zone blocking scheme. Travelle Wharton’s agent merits a phone call for the opening at guard.
From a football only perspective, my pick is:
Trey Millard, Fullback, Oklahoma
A special teamer, but also a very well rounded fullback who can block, catch and carry the ball.
This draft can help put the Dolphins over the top if they are able to identify which players are ready in 2014 properly and not start rookies that are not ready.
