Pitiful Picks: Will the Dolphins win & make the playoffs?
It all comes down to this Dolphins fans! The Dolphins embarrassing loss last week seems like a distant memory, doesn’t it? Thanks to a couple of games in other cities going there way last week, the Dolphins seem to have the best chance out of the 4 teams vying for the final playoff spot in the AFC. By now you know what the Dolphins need to earn the 6th seed; They need to win AND they need EITHER the Bengals to beat the Ravens OR the Chargers to beat the Chiefs. Pretty simple.
Our final pitiful picks segment for the regular season will give you our thoughts on all of the biggest games that week 17 offers. We’re 38-33 on the season and looking to close out the regular season with another good week. 13 of the 16 games this week will have some impact on what the final playoff brackets will look like. I can’t think of a more exciting week 17 since I’ve been watching football. I mean, 2 games are for their division titles with the winner hosting a playoff game next week and the loser going home and missing the playoffs…..there are 4 teams fighting for the last spot in the AFC playoff race….The current top 2 seeds in the NFC could both drop from having playoff byes to having to travel on the road in the wild card round.
It is going to be an awesome Sunday of football my friends and I just plan on sitting back, relaxing and taking it all in. Here’s how I see week 17 shaping up:
Steelers – 7 over Browns
The Steelers need to win and hope that the Dolphins, Chargers, and Ravens all lose on Sunday. I don’t think they’ll get all of the help they need, but I think the Steelers will do their part and finish at 8-8 after starting 0-4. The Steelers are 16-1 versus the Browns with Big Ben at QB and Big Ben hasn’t lost to the Browns at home….ever. That trend continues. Prediction: Steelers 27 Browns 17
Ravens +7 over Bengals
The Ravens need to win and hope that the Dolphins or Chargers lose to get into the playoffs. I think they are in for a dogfight in Cincinnati because the Bengals have a chance to move up to the 2nd seed, if they win and the Patriots lose. Since the Patriots game isn’t until 425pm, they will be motivated. It also helps that they hate the Ravens. Having said all that, I think Cincinnati wins, but in typical AFC North fashion, this game is a close one. Prediction: Bengals 31 Ravens 27
Packers -3 over Bears
Aaron Rodgers is back and will try to give Packers fans a division title for the holidays. Rodgers may be rusty, but it won’t be for lack of practice. He’s actually been practicing for the last 3 weeks. The Packers are also getting star receiver Randall Cobb back. Add those two BIG factors in and combine it with the pitiful performance by the Bears last week and I think you end up with a Packers victory. Prediction: Packers 30 Bears 20
