Dolphins GM search begins to take shape
This is a tricky time of year to have an opening at the GM position. Why? Because this is the most important time of year for GM’s and their personnel staffs. Remember, the Senior Bowl is next week, the scouting combine is just over a month away, and free agency starts in March. The GM’s job is a year round evaluation process, so getting someone in sooner rather than later is very important.
I just hope that the Dolphins hire someone with a track record as a good talent evaluator. I do not want to see wasted draft picks, especially early ones. I know there will be misses, that happens in every franchise. But I will be very happy to see Dolphins 2nd round picks on the field contributing instead of being involved with bullying allegations OR sitting on the sidelines, watching other team’s practice squad players get playing time ahead of them. The best teams in the NFL build through the draft because that talent is added to the roster at a discounted price compared to free agency. Finding a GM that has an eye for talent will help make the Dolphins good in 2014 and beyond.
Offensive Coordinator Update
The Dolphins are apparently narrowing down their list of offensive coordinator candidates:
The #Dolphins‘ are zeroing in on Kyle Shanahan, Gary Kubiak, and Ben McAdoo to be their O-Coordinator. @PhinNation @Phins_Phocus @DolfansNYC

In my mind, McAdoo is the most likely out of this group because of his connections with Philbin in Green Bay…also that big Aaron Rodgers endorsement (I kid, I kid). I would actually be okay with any of these candidates, although I have to say that Bill Lazor was intriguing because of his knowledge of Chip Kelly’s offense. I really would like to see the Dolphins do something innovative. I thought we’d be getting that when Coach Philbin took over, but we have yet to see it. Perhaps a new offensive coordinator will bring that. Time will tell.
