Lifeless Dolphins should be embarrassed after 19-0 loss to Bills
What I didn’t like (continued)
Wheeler/Ellerbe – Jeff Irelend ‘upgraded’ the Dolphins linebacking corps….supposedly. But I have been thoroughly unimpressed by their play for the most part this season. The sad thing is that the Dolphins signed both to big deals this offseason, so they’ll be around for a while.
Front 7 – The Dolphins front 7 were manhandled by the Bills on Sunday. The Bills rushed the ball 51 times for 203 yards. 51 times…..FIFTY-ONE TIMES! The Dolphins ran a TOTAL of 52 plays (runs & passes). The supposed strength of this team was supposed to be the rush defense, but the Dolphins now rank 26th in that department. Thanks Mr. Ireland.
Coaching – There is not enough space on the internet to express the disgust I have with this coaching staff. From Mike Sherman calling 7 step drops when the O-Line can’t hold their blocks long enough for a 3 step drop…. to Sherman calling 3 running plays to the Dolphins starting running back…..THREE…..to Coach Philbin’s inability to motivate this team and prevent a trap game. By the way, I said this was a trap game and many disagreed with me. It was. After a big win over the Patriots, the Dolphins were too proud of themselves and came out and laid an egg against a subpar opponent. I would’ve rather seen lobster traps (Wannstedt era) hanging from the locker room rafters than the disgraceful performance the Dolphins provided on Sunday.
If the Dolphins miss the playoffs, I would have no issue with them firing everyone and starting over at GM and Head Coach. None whatsoever. Even if they make the playoffs, some changes will need to be made (i.e. Ireland gone, Sherman….sherminated). The Dolphins have gotten very little (if anything) from their 2013 draft class…..the free agents from this offseason are not having the impact we were promised…..and the team is losing games it should not be losing (i.e. Buffalo twice, winless Bucs, etc.). Something needs to change or this cycle of anger and frustration from Dolphins fans is not going to change.
Overall, words can’t describe the level of frustration yesterday’s loss brought us all. The Dolphins need to move on. I know the Dolphins were awoken from their slumber at 330am by a fire alarm. Please do not use this as an excuse. I can’t deal. A lot of people do their jobs with less sleep. Using this as an excuse is weak….it’s irrelevant. Stop it. They played a lifeless, heartless game and got shut out. The team needs to move on.
The Dolphins need to beat the Jets on Sunday and hope for some help. In an odd turn of events, none of the 4 teams vying for the 6th playoff spot control their own destiny. All of them need help. If they all win, the Dolphins are in. If they all lose, the Ravens are in. There are a ton of possibilities and we’ll break them all down for you (probably tomorrow). Just know for a fact that the Dolphins must beat the Jets on Sunday to have a chance. If they lose, they’ll be 8-8 and watching the playoffs just like me and you….from our couches.
